- 3 tablespoons [45 mL] soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon [15 mL] lime juice
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] seasoned sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons [10 g] sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] ginger
- 4 salmon steaks, 1-inch [2.5-cm] thick
- Lime slices [optional]

- Preheat barbecue.
- In a shallow dish, mix together all marinade ingredients [soy sauce, lime juice, seasoned sesame oil, sugar and ginger].
- Coat salmon steaks on both sides with marinade.
- Marinate for 10 minutes, turning steaks once.
- Arrange salmon steaks onto a wire rack.
- Transfer rack over barbecue rack, 4 inches [10 cm] from heat source.
- Barbecue salmon steaks for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Turn and then brush salmon steaks with marinade.
- Barbecue for 5 to 7 minutes longer.
- Prick salmon steaks to check doneness.
- Serve immediately, decorated with lime slices if desired.
