Salmon Teriyaki

  • 3 tablespoons [45 mL] soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] seasoned sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons [10 g] sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] ginger
  • 4 salmon steaks, 1-inch [2.5-cm] thick
  • Lime slices [optional]
  • Preheat barbecue.
  • In a shallow dish, mix together all marinade ingredients [soy sauce, lime juice, seasoned sesame oil, sugar and ginger].
  • Coat salmon steaks on both sides with marinade.
  • Marinate for 10 minutes, turning steaks once.
  • Arrange salmon steaks onto a wire rack.
  • Transfer rack over barbecue rack, 4 inches [10 cm] from heat source.
  • Barbecue salmon steaks for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Turn and then brush salmon steaks with marinade.
  • Barbecue for 5 to 7 minutes longer.
  • Prick salmon steaks to check doneness.
  • Serve immediately, decorated with lime slices if desired.
