Barbecued Salmon Steaks
Comments: An easy to prepare dish, yet worthy of serving on special occasions.
To roast sesame seeds, simply heat them into a small frypan stirring over low heat, until golden.

  • 4 salmon steaks
  • 2 tablespoons [30 mL] Dijon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons [45 mL] dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons [30 mL] soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] water
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Roasted sesame seeds, to serve
  • Mix together Dijon mustard, dark brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil and water.
  • Preheat barbecue to medium heat.
  • Brush salmon steaks with olive oil; salt and pepper.
  • Arrange salmon steaks over hot barbecue rack; brush salmon steaks with half of Dijon mustard mixture.
  • Barbecue salmon steaks for 5 minutes.
  • Delicately turn salmon steaks over.
  • Brush salmon steaks with remaining Dijon mustard mixture; barbecue for 5 minutes more.
  • Serve salmon steaks immediately, sprinkled with roasted sesame seeds.
