Barbecue Sauce for Steaks

Comments: Use to brush steaks towards the end of barbecueing time.

  • 2 tablespoons [30 mL] salad oil
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] vinegar
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] brown sugar
  • 1 [6-ounce / 170-mL] can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] water
  • Into a casserole, combine salad oil, minced onion and minced garlic.
  • Simmer over low heat, stirring for 10 minutes to brown onion.
  • Stir in dry mustard, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, tomato paste and water.
  • Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes more.
