Shrimp Gouda Cheese Skewers
Comments: Prosciutto : Italian dry-cured ham.
Serve along with your favorite salsa.

  • 16 [1-inch / 2.5-cm each] cubes classic Gouda cheese
  • 16 fresh large shrimps, shelled and deveined
  • 5 1/4 ounces [150 g] prosciutto slices
  • 32 French bread stick cubes
  • 8 bamboo skewers, soaked in water
  • Freeze cheese cubes for 2 hours to prevent melting while barbecueing.
  • Preheat barbecue until hot.
  • Cut prosciutto slices into approximately 1-inch [2.5-cm] wide strips.
  • Roll prosciutto strips all around each shrimp.
  • Starting and ending with 1 bread cube, alternately thread 2 shrimps and 2 just frozen Gouda cheese cubes onto each skewer.
  • Grease barbecue rack then grill skewers onto hot barbecue rack for 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
  • Serve immediately.
