- 14 ounces [400 g] Gruyere-style cheese
- Cooking oil
- Pepper
Dough
- 2 eggs
- White wine or beer
- Salt
- Approximatly 1 1/2 cups [210 g] flour

- Cut cheese into 1/2-inch [1.3-cm] thick x 1 1/2 to 2-inch [4 to 5-cm] long sticks.
- Prepare dough.
- Heat cooking oil.
- Dip each cheese stick into dough; fry into really hot oil until golden.
- Transfer sticks onto a serving plate.
- Sprinkle with pepper, and serve.
Dough
- Beat together eggs, a little white wine or beer and a pinch of salt.
- Mix in enough flour to get a thick dough.
