Cheese Sticks

Servings: Have 8 to 10 sticks per serving

  • 14 ounces [400 g] Gruyere-style cheese
  • Cooking oil
  • Pepper
Dough
  • 2 eggs
  • White wine or beer
  • Salt
  • Approximatly 1 1/2 cups [210 g] flour
  • Cut cheese into 1/2-inch [1.3-cm] thick x 1 1/2 to 2-inch [4 to 5-cm] long sticks.
  • Prepare dough.
  • Heat cooking oil.
  • Dip each cheese stick into dough; fry into really hot oil until golden.
  • Transfer sticks onto a serving plate.
  • Sprinkle with pepper, and serve.
Dough
  • Beat together eggs, a little white wine or beer and a pinch of salt.
  • Mix in enough flour to get a thick dough.
