Cheese Straws

Comments: Serve as appetizers or with a soup.
  • 1 cup [140 g] flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] baking powder
  • 1/3 cup [75 g] butter
  • 1 cup [250 mL] extra-Old Cheddar cheese
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons [15 to 30 mL] milk
  • Sift together flour, salt and baking powder; really finely cut in butter and cheese, pouring in some milk as needed.
  • Roll dough; cut dough into 1/3-inch [8-mm] wide, 3 to 4-inch [7.6 to 10-cm] long strips.
  • Arrange strips onto a greased baking sheet.
  • Bake into a preheated low 250°F [120°C] oven, until just browned.
