- 1 1/3 cups [330 mL] warm water [110 °F / 43°C]
- 3 tablespoons [45 g] butter, softened
- 4 cups [1 L] bread flour
- 2 teaspoons [10 mL] salt
- 1/4 cup [60 g] sugar
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] sesame seeds, celery seeds and/or any desired herb
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] dry milk powder
- 2 1/2 teaspoons [17.5 g] active dry yeast
- Cooking spray
- Oil

- Transfer all ingredients, except cooking spray, into the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
- Select dough cycle and press 'Start'.
- Spray 2 baking sheets with cooking spray.
- Preheat oven to 375°F [190 °C.
- When dough cycle is complete, remove dough to a lightly oiled surface.
- Divide dough up into 18 pieces.
- Roll each piece onto an oiled board, from center of piece to the outside edges to form bread sticks.
- Arrange bread sticks at least 1 inch [2.5 cm] apart onto prepared baking sheets.
- Bake into preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, until golden.
- Transfer onto a wire rack; leave to cool completely.
