- 160 mL [2/3 cup] milk
- 1 tablespon [15 mL] cooking oil
- 2 cups [500 mL / 280 g] bread flour
- 1 tablespoon [15 g] sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
- 1 teaspoon [2.3 g] active dry yeast or bread machine yeast
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon [15 mL] water
- Any desired herb[s], sesame seeds, poppy seeds, caraway seeds, coarse salt or grated Parmesan cheese, to sprinkle
1 1/2 pounds [680 g]
- 250 mL [1 cup] milk
- 2 tablespons [30 mL] cooking oil
- 3 cups [750 mL / 420 g] bread flour
- 2 tablespoons [30 g] sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon [3.75 mL] salt
- 1 teaspoon [2.3 g] active dry yeast or bread machine yeast
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon [15 mL] water
- Any desired herb[s], sesame seeds, poppy seeds, caraway seeds, coarse salt or grated Parmesan cheese, to sprinkle

- Select loaf size.
- Add all of the ingredients of one of the recipes to machine according to manufacturer's directions.
- Select dough cycle.
- When cycle is complete, removre dough froma machine.
- Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Grease a baking sheet; set aside.
- Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
- Onto a lightly floured surface, divide pound [454 g] of dough into 24 pieces, 1 1/2 pounds [680 g] of dough into 32 pieces.
- Roll each pieces into an 8-inch [20-cm] long rope.
- Arrange ropes onto prepared baking sheet.
- Stir together egg white and water; brush onto breadsticks.
- Sprinkle all breadsticks with desired herb[s], seed[s], coarse salt or grated Parmesan cheese, or sprinkle some breadsticks with different herbs and seeds, some with coarse salt and some with grated Parmasan cheese.
- Bake into preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden.
- Transfer to cool onto wire racks before serving, warm or cold.
