Tofu Burger
From: Diamant, Sainte-Foy, Quebec, Canada
  • 1 pound [454 g] soft bean curd
  • 2 cups [500 mL] oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] catsup
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] pepper
  • 2 tablespoons [30 mL] oil
  • Individual wheat buns
  • Garnishings, to taste
  • Break-up bean curd; well dry.
  • Grossly grind oatmeal; add to bean curd.
  • Mix in catsup, Worcestershire sauce, minced onion, dry mustard, sea salt and pepper.
  • Shape into small patties.
  • Heat oil into a heavy bottom frypan; brown patties, over low heat, for approximately 8 minutes on each side.
  • Arrange into wheat buns.
  • Garnish to taste and serve.
