Syrup
- 3 cups [600 g] sugar
- 3 cups [750 mL] water
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] grated orange rind
- 1 tablespoon [15 mL] grated lemon rind
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] citric acid
- 3/4 cup [190 mL] orange juice
- 1/3 cup [80 mL] lemon juice
To Serve
- Crushed ice
- Soda water or water

Syrup
- Into a large casserole, mix together sugar, water, grated orange and lemon rinds.
- Bring to a boil; lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Take away from heat; stir in citric acid, orange juice and lemon juice.
- Cool.
- Pour syrup into a clean jar; refrigerate.
To Serve
- To serve, half-fill a tall glass with crushed ice.
- Pour in approximately 1/4 cup [60 mL] syrup and 3/4 cup [190 mL] soda water or water.
- Stir; serve immediately.
