- 1/2 cup [115 g] softened butter
- 1/2 cup [115 g] margarine
- 4 tablespoons [60 mL] minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] minced shallots
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] freshly ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon [15 mL] freshly chopped parsley
- 1 tablespoon [15 mL] Pernod liqueur
- A little paprika, to colour [optional]

- Thoroughly mix together butter, margarine, garlic, shallots, lemon juice, salt, freshly ground pepper, chopped parsley, Pernod and, if desired, paprika.
- Serve cold or hot.
