Blue Mountain Hot Wine

Comments: Delicious hot beverage to serve after a winter sport activity.

  • 1 cup [200 g] sugar
  • 3 cups [750 mL] boiling water
  • Rind of 1/2 a lemon
  • 18 cloves
  • 1 [6-inch / 15-cm] cinnamon stick
  • 2 [26-ounce / 780-mL each] bottles red table wine
  • Nutmeg
  • Dissolve sugar into boiling water.
  • Add lemon rind, cloves and cinnamon stick.
  • Boil for 15 minutes.
  • Filter into the upper part of a double boiler; pour in wine.
  • Heat until hot.
  • Serve hot, sprinkled with a little nutmeg.
