Italian-Style Braids

IngredientsPreparation
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking powder
  • 6 tablespoons [90 mL] oil
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
  • 6 tablespoons [90 g] sugar
  • Rroughly 4 cups [560 g] flour
  • 2 capfulls vanilla
  • 1 jar liquid honey
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] icing sugar
  • Beat eggs well; then add all other ingredients, except honey and icing sugar and mix.
  • Cut large piece of dough off and roll flat.
  • Cut long pieces that consist of 3 thin strips joined at the top and braid dough.
  • Get the kids [with help if needed] to braid all the pieces of dough.
  • Once dough is braided join the two ends together.
  • Put lots of oil into a large fry pan and put braids in [this is something kids definitly should not do].
  • Braids will float to the top of the oil.
  • Watch very carefully.
  • Fry until light brown.
  • After all braids have been fried, melt honey; dip braids into melted honey.
  • Sprinkle with icing sugar.
