Chocolate Frosted Chocolate Cookies
Comments: Icing will spread by itself, over hot cookies.
Servings: 48 cookies
  • 1/2 cup [115 g] butter or shortening
  • 1 cup [250 mL] lightly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] milk
  • 2 [1-ounce / 30-g each] chocolate squares, melted
  • 1 3/4 cups [245 g] all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] chopped nuts
Chocolate Frosting
  • 1 [1-ounce / 30-g] chocolate square
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] cream
  • Icing sugar
  • Preheat oven to 375 to 400°F [190 to 200°C].
  • Cream together butter or shortening and brown sugar.
  • Well mix in egg, milk and melted chocolate.
  • Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; mix into butter/egg mixture.
  • Well mix in chopped nuts.
  • Drop spoonfuls mixture onto a greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake into preheated oven, for 12 to 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, prepare chocolate icing.
  • Remove cookies from oven; immediately pour a little chocolate icing over each cookie.
Chocolate Frosting
  • Melt chocolate square [150°F / 65°C on top].
  • Mix in beaten egg yolk and cream.
  • Stir in enough icing sugar to get a spreadable consistency.
