Chocolate Chippers

  • 1/2 cup [115 g] shortening
  • 1/2 cup [100 g] sugar
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla
  • 1 cup [140 g] sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon [3.75 mL] salt
  • 1 [6-ounce / 170-g] bag semi-sweet chocolate chips [1 cup / 250 mL]
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] chopped walnuts
  • Preheat oven to 375°F [190°C].
  • Cream together shortenint, sugar, brown sugar, egg and vanilla until fluffy.
  • Sift together flour, baking soda and salt.
  • Stir into creamed mixture.
  • Then stir in chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
  • Drop teaspoonfuls mixture, 2 inches [5 cm] apart, onto a greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake into preheated oven, for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Transfer onto wire racks, to cool completely.
