- 3/4 cup [175 g] shortening
- 1 cup [200 g] sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup [250 mL] crushed banana
- 1 1/2 cups [210 g] flour
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] nutmeg
- 3/4 teaspoon [3.75 mL] cinnamon
- 1 3/4 cups [440 mL] rolled oats
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] finely chopped nuts

- Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
- Thoroughly cream together shortening and sugar.
- Break in egg and beat well.
- Mix in crushed bananas.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, nutmeg and cinnamon.
- Mix into first mixture.
- Well mix in rolled oats and finely chopped nuts.
- Drop dough, 1 teaspoonful [5 mL] at a time away from each other, onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake into preheated oven, for 12 to 15 minutes.
- Leave to cool slightly then transfer cookies onto wire racks; leave to cool completely.
