Butter Cookie Logs

  • 2 tablespons [30 g] butter, diced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons [22.5 g] sugar
  • 2 teaspoons [10 mL] cream
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup - 1 tablespoon [106.25 g] all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] baking powder
  • Few drops vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 ounces [42 g] milk or dark chocolate pieces, to decorate
  • Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
  • Grease a baking sheet.
  • Into a bowl, beat together butter and sugar until light.
  • Pour in cream and mix in egg yolk.
  • Sift together flour and baking powder into mixture.
  • Mix in vanilla stirring until well combined.
  • Transfer dough into a pastry bag, using a star-shape tip.
  • Press dough into 40 logs, apart onto greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake cookies into preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown and firm.
  • Transfer baking sheet onto a wire rack; leave cookies to cool for 1 minute.
  • Transfer cookies to wire rack to cool completely.
  • Into the top part of a double-boiler, melt milk or dark chocolate pieces stirring until smooth.
  • Dip both ends of each cooled cookie log into melted chocolate.
  • Leave to harden onto a wire rack.
