Alsace-Style Fake Pancake

  • 1/2 pound [227 g] flour
  • 7 ounces [200 g] caster sugar
  • 3 1/2 ounces [105 g] butter, softened
  • 1/2 pack yeast
  • 1 pack vanilla sugar
  • 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and grated
  • Arrange flour, caster sugar, softened butter yeast and vanilla sugar into a large bowl.
  • With your hands, mix together all ingredients, until of sand-like texture.
  • Grease and flour a pie plate.
  • Sprinkle pie plate with half of flour mixture.
  • Top with grated apples, then with remaining flour mixture.
  • Bake into a preheated 400°F [200°C] oven, for 30 minutes.
