- 2 cups [280 g] all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup [150 g] sugar
- 4 teaspoons [20 mL] baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
- 4 tablespoons [60 g] shortening
- 1 cup [250 mL] milk
Syrup
- 2 cups [500 mL] well-packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon [8.75 g] flour
- 2 cups [500 mL] water
- 1/2 teaspoon [2,5 mL] maple extract

- Preheat oven to 375°F [190°C].
- Mix together syrup brown sugar and flour into a 10-cup [2,5-L] baking dish.
- Well stir in already mixed together water and maple extract; set aside.
- Into a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
- Using a pastry cutter or two knifes, cut shortening into dry ingredients.
- Pour in milk stirring using a fork to just dampen dry ingredients [do not beat yet make sure that there no longer is any dry flour on top of dough].
- Drop spoonfuls of dough into syrup [if dry flour can be seen over any spoonful of dough, simply turn dough over into syrup].
- Bake into preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, until golden brown.
- Leave to cool slightly before serving, warm.
