- 8 to 10 apples
- 1 3/4 cup [350 g] sugar
- 1 cup [250 mL] water
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup [75 g] butter
- 2 cups [280 g] all-purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons [15 mL] baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup [190 mL] milk

- Peel, core then cut apples into rings, or wedges.
- Into a casserole, bring together apple pieces, 3/4 cup [150 g] of sugar and water to a boil.
- Leave to simmer to soften apples, until just thickened; leave to cool.
- Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
- Into a large bowl, beat together eggs, remaining 1 cup [200 g] sugar, and butter.
- Mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
- Alternately with milk, fold flour mixture into beaten eggs mixture.
- Pour cooled apples mixture into a greased 6-cup [1.5-L] baking dish.
- Evenly, completely cover mixture with dough.
- Bake into preheated oven for approximately 1 hour, until golden brown.
