Baked Apples

Comments: If desired, add a little cinnamon, nutmeg, ground clove or mace to the brown sugar.
You can also use some dried whole fruits such as raisins or dried fruit pieces to replace the brown sugar.

  • 4 baking apples
  • Brown sugar
  • Butter
  • Water
  • Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
  • Rinse, dry then delicately core apples.
  • Remove approximately 1 inch [2.5 cm] peel all around the top of the apples.
  • Arrange apples into a baking dish, just large enough to hold the apples side-by-side.
  • Fill apples with brown sugar.
  • Top each apple with a small piece butter.
  • Pour approximately 1/2 inch [1.3 cm] water into the dish.
  • Bake apples into preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, until tender, coating apples often with cooking juices.
  • Serve hot, or cold.
