- 1 1/2 cups [240 g] cake and pastry flour
- Pinch salt
- 3 teaspoons [15 mL] baking powder
- 1/3 cup [75 g] butter
- 1 3/4 cup [350 g] sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] milk
- 4 cups [1 L] cleaned fresh berries

- Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
- Sift together flour, salt and baking powder; set aside.
- Into a large bowl, cream butter slowly beating in 3/4 cup [150 g] of the sugar.
- Well beat in egg.
- Alternately with milk, fold flour mixture into creamy butter mixture.
- Butter a 6-cup [1.5-L] baking dish.
- Mix together berries and remaining 1 cup [200 g] sugar.
- Evenly arrange berries over the bottom of baking dish.
- Evenly pour dough all over sweetened berries.
- Bake into preheated oven for approximately 1 hour, until golden brown.
