- Frying oil
- Approximately 2 tablespoons [30 g] animal fat, for frying
- 2 cups [280 g] flour
- 3 teaspoons [15 mL] baking powder
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup [250 mL] milk or cream
- 1 1/2 cups [300 g] sugar
- Approximately 4 ounces [125 mL] dry gin
- Pinch of salt
- Approximately 2 tablespoons [30 g] soft butter
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] warmed-up baking soda [dissolved into just a little warm water]
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vinegar
- A little cold water

- Into a deeep-fryer, melt together some frying oil and animal fat.
- Sift together flour and baking powder; set aside.
- Beat eggs until light.
- Mix in milk or cream, sugar, dry gin, salt, soft butter, dissolved baking soda and vinegar.
- Slowly stir into sifted flour mixture.
- Mix in a little cold water, to get an easy to roll dough.
- Cut dough into doughnut shapes.
- Deep-fry 3 to 4 doughnuts at a time into hot far, until golden on one side.
- Flip doughnuts over; brown on other side.
- Repeat with remaining dough.
