Tita's Yeast Doughnuts

Comments: Rich in proteins and vitamins, these doughnuts are perfect to serve along with milk chocolate as well as with a drink, with or without alcohol.

  • 3 1/2 cups + 3 2/3 teaspoons [500 g] flour
  • 2 1/2 cups [500 g] sugar
  • 2 packs dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] nutmeg
  • 7 ounces [200 g] grated coconut
  • Grated rind of 1 orange
  • 1 [10 1/2-ounce / 300-mL] can sweetened condensed milk
  • 7 eggs
  • 1 cup - 5 teaspoons [200 g] butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] orange blossom water
  • 4 cups [1 L] oil, for frying
  • Into a alrge bowl, mix together flour, sugar, dry yeast, nutmet, grated coconut and grated orange rind.
  • Make a well in the middles and pour in sweetened condensed milk.
  • Break in eggs then add melted butter, vanilla extract and orange blossom water.
  • Mix together all ingredients then leave batter to rest for 2 hours.
  • Roll dough then cut dough into small doughnut shapes.
  • Into a large casserole, heat oil until really hot.
  • Deep-fry doughnuts a few at a time into really hot oil until golden brown on both sides, turning once.
  • Leave to drain onto paper toweling, then enjoy!
