Baked Doughnuts

IngredientsPreparation
  • 1 cup [200 g] sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons [37.5 g] shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups [280 g] flour, sifted
  • 1 or 2 teaspoons [5 or 10 mL] nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
  • 3 teaspoons [15 mL] baking powder
  • 6 tablespoons [90 mL] milk
  • Melted butter
  • Icing sugar
    and/or already mixed together
    1 cup [200 g] sugar
    +
    1 teaspoon [5 mL] cinnamon
  • Preheat oven to 400°F [200°C].
  • Into a mixing bowl using an electric mixer beat together sugar, shortening, eggs, sifted flour, nutmeg, salt, baking powder and milk until smooth.
  • Spoon into 12 greased muffin tins.
  • Bake into preheated oven for 15 à 20 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and brush doughnuts all over [top, sides and bottom] with melted butter while still hot.
  • Shake doughnuts into a bag already filled with your favorite coating, icing sugar and/or sugar and cinnamon mixture.
