- 12 bread slices, crusts removed
- 12 round slices, of the side of muffin tins, Black Forest ham
- 12 small eggs
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] whipping cream [35%]
- 1/4 cup [60 g] grated Gruyere cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
- Flatten bread slices using a rolling pin.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Arrange bread slices into muffin tins.
- Lightly press one slice of ham in the midlle of each slice of bread, over the bottom of each muffin tin.
- Break one egg into each muffin tin.
- Evenly pour the cream over 6 of the eggs; evenly sprinkle these eggs with grated Gruyere cheese.
- Leave remaining 6 eggs plain.
- Bake eggs into preheated oven for appoximately 15 to 20 minutes, until eggs are set, before serving.
