- Approximately 3/4 cup [190 mL] seasoned breadcrumbs
- 8 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
- 4 fried bacon slices, crumbled [optional]
- Approximately 2 tablespoons [30 g] butter
- Approximately 3/4 cup [190 mL] milk, half and half or cream
- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C.
- Grease an 8-inch [20-cm] square glass baking dish; cover bottom with a layer of seasoned breadcrumbs.
- Arrange a layer hard-boiled egg slices and sprinkle egg slices with fried bacon crumbs if using; dot with a few bits of butter.
- Salt and pepper.
- Repeat this layer process, finishing with a layer of seasoned breadcrumbs and bits of butter.
- Pour milk, half and half or cream over the whole dish, until it comes about halfway up the side of the dish.
- Bake into preheated oven until heated and browned, for approximately 4 to 6 minutes.
