- 4 cups [1 L] cold water
- 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] chili sauce
- 1 cup [250 mL] hot water
- 8 teaspoons [40 mL] liquid beef broth concentrate
- 1 tablespoon [15 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 4 teaspoons [20 mL] liquid chicken broth concentrate
- 1 ounce [28 mL] red wine
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
or garlic salt, to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] thyme

- Mix together cold water and onion soup mix.
- Bring to a boil; simmer for 7 minutes.
- Stir in chili sauce, hot water, beef broth concentrate, Worcesershire sauce, chicken broth concentrate and red wine.
- Then stir in bay leaf, minced garlic or garlic salt, oregano and thyme.
- Boil for 10 minutes, before serving.
