Camembert Cheese Fritters
From: Marie-Paul, Auteuil, Laval, Quebec, Canada
Comments: To succeed in making these fritters, the Camembert cheese must be cold, ripen but not runny.
Cracker instead of bread crumbs can be used.
This dish can either be served as a hors d'oeuvre or as a 'feast', at the end of a meal.
Serve along with a robust enough red wine, such as a Burgundy wine.

  • Mix Cayenne pepper with flour.
  • Roll each Camembert segment into flour, then dip into beaten eggs and then coat with breadcrumbs.

  • Fry cheese pieces for approximately 30 seconds, until golden brown.
  • Drain onto paper toweling.
  • Peel and cut each apple into 4 wedges.
  • Onto a serving plate, arrange fritters between apple wedges; serve immediately.
