Hot Sausage Meat Rye Bread Slices

  • 1 pound [454 g] hot sausage meat
  • 1 pound [454 g] lean ground beef
  • 1 pound [454 g] Velveeta cheese, into cubes
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] oregano
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 3 loaves rye bread slices
  • Fry together sausage meat and ground beef; drain drippings.
  • Then mix in cheese cubes, oregano and Worcestershire sauce; salt and pepper.
  • Stir until cheese has melted.
  • Evenly spread mixture over rye bread slices.
  • Freeze onto cookie sheets, covered.
  • Transfer frozen slices into plastic bags and freeze to store.
  • To serve, reheat frozen slices under preheated oven broiler until hot, or microwave, once slice at a time, for 2 to 3 minutes.
