Chinese-Style Spareribs

Comments: Also excellent with chicken parts.
Can also be grilled on barbecue, turning half-way.

  • Approximately 2 pounds [1 kg] spareribs
Sauce
  • 1 cup [250 mL] ketchup
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] molasses
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon [0.5 mL] pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon [0.5 mL] garlic salt or garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon [0.5 mL] onion salt
  • 2 tablespoons [30 g] sugar
  • 2 tablespoons [30 mL] onion flakes or minced chives
  • Preheat oven to 325°F [160°C].
  • Combine all sauce ingredients; reserve.
  • Boil spareribs for 20 minutes; drain well.
  • Coat spareribs with sauce or preferably, leave spareribs to marinate in sauce for 20 minutes.
  • Place spareribs directly over preheated oven rack [place a pan underneath to collect drippings].
  • Cook into preheated oven for 20 minutes, turning half-way through.
