Chinese-Style Feast

Comments: With or without dry Chinese 'Chow Mein' noodles, this dish is delicous.

  • 1 1/2 pounds [680 g] ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] or to taste, beef broth concentrate [optional; be careful it is quite salty]
  • 7 ounces [198 g] snow peas
  • 2 cups [500 mL] celery slices, cut sideways
  • 1 cup [250 mL] chopped onion
  • 1 [10-ounce / 284-mL] can tomato soup concentrate
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] milk
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt, if needed
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] pepper
  • 2 cups [500 mL] dry Chinese 'Chow Mein' noodles [optional]
  • Into a frypan, cook together ground beef into beef broth concentrate, stirring, until well browned.
  • Drain; throw away fat.
  • Evenly spread meat into a 10-cup [2.5-L] oven-safe dish.
  • Evenly cover with snow peas.
  • Evenly top with celery slices.
  • Into a medium-size bowl, mix together chopped onion, tomato soup concentrate, milk, salt [if needed] and pepper.
  • Mix well; pour all over celery slices.
  • If desired, sprinkle with dry Chinese 'Chow Mein' noodles.
  • Cover dish.
  • Bake into a preheated 350°F [180°C] oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
