Chinese-Style Burgers

  • 1 pound [454 g] ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons [30 mL] drained chopped canned mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon [0.5 mL] pepper
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] soy sauce
  • 4 sesame seed hamburger buns, halved then toasted
  • Preheat oven broiler until really hot.
  • Mix together ground beef, drained chopped mushrooms, salt and pepper.
  • Shape mixture into 4 approximately 1-inch [2.5-cm] thick patties.
  • Brush each side of patties with soy sauce.
  • Broil patties, 4 inches [10 cm] under hot preheated broiler until done to taste, 6 minutes on each side for medium done patties.
  • Arrange ground beef patties over lower half of sesame seed hamburger buns.
  • Top with remaining sesame seed hamburger bun halves, and serve.
