Dominique's Meat Loaf

IngredientsPreparation
  • 2 pounds [1 kg] semi-lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Steak spices, to taste
Sauce
  • 1 cup [250 mL] chili sauce
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] water
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] dry mustard
  • 4 teaspoons [20 mL] Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 heaping tablespoons [45 mL] brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
  • Mix together all sauce ingredients; set aside.
  • Mix together ground beef, chopped onion and a little Italian-style breadcrumbs.
  • Add egg, season with salt and pepper, then well mix.
  • Mix in enough Italian-style breadcrumbs for mixture to hold by itself.
  • Shape mixture into to breads.
  • Transfer shaped mixture into bread pans; evenly pour sauce over meat loaves.
  • Bake into preheated oven, for 45 to 60 minutes.
