- 6 tablespoons [90 g] butter or margarine
- 1 cup [250 mL] fine celery dices
- 2 pounds [1 kg] ground beef round
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 teaspoons [10 mL] salt
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] pepper
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] water
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] Worcestershire sauce

- Melt 2 tablespoons [30 g] of the butter or margarine into a small frypan; soften celery dices into hot fat.
- Into a large bowl, just mix together ground beef, drained softened celery dices, beaten eggs, salt, pepper, water and Worcestershire sauce until blended.
- Shape mixture into 4, approximately 1-inch [2.5-cm] thick, large patties.
- Melt remaining butter or margarine into a large frypan.
- Brown patties for 5 minutes on each side for medium-done patties, or until done to taste.
- Serve.
