- 2 cups [280 g] all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
- 4 teaspoons [20 mL] baking powder
- 3/4 cup [190 mL] tiny apple dices [peeled, cored and diced just before adding]
- 2 tablespoons [30 g] shortening
- 2 tablespoons [30 g] sugar
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 cup [250 mL] milk

- Preheat oben to 400°F [200°C].
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt together twice.
- Combine a small amount of flour mixture with apple dices; set aside.
- Cream together shortening and sugar.
- Add well-beaten eggs; beat well.
- Add remaining flour mixture alternately with milk, a little at a time, blending after each addition.
- Mix until smooth [this should be a fairly stiff dough].
- Fold in reserved apple dices.
- Bake into preheated oven, for 18 to 20 minutes.
