Cheese Dumplings [Lithuania]

  • 8 ounces [227 g] small curd cottage cheese
  • 2 egg whites, or 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup [70 g] flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 ml] salt
  • Boiling water
  • Mix together cottage cheese and egg whites or egg.
  • Add flour and salt,
  • Knead until the mixture is no longer sticky.
  • Roll out dough into balls, slightly smaller than golf balls.
  • Roll them in flour to coat.
  • Drop balls into a casserole filled with boiling water.
  • Cook for 12 minutes, drain and serve.
