French Toasts

Excellent served along with maple syrup, or simply sprinkled with a little sugar, brown sugar or icing sugar.

Enough mixture for 4 to 6 bread slices

| Ingredients | Preparation |
- 1 or 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] milk
- 4 to 6 day-old bread slices
- Butter
|
- Slightly beat egg[s] into a shallow bowl, then beat in milk.
- Heat a little butter into a frypan until just golden.
- One at a time, dip bread slices into milk-egg mixture until well-coated on both sides.
- Fry bread slices side-by-side into hot butter until golden brown.
- Turn over and fry on other side.
- Serve toasts immediately, hot.
