Easy Ground Beef and Tomato Macaroni

  • 4 cups [1 L] cooked macaroni elbows
  • 28 ounces [796 mL] canned tomatoes
  • Salt, pepper and thyme, to taste
  • 1/2 cup [115 g] finely grated cheese or 1/2 cup [125 mL] fine bread crumbs [mixed with a little butter]
  • 1/2 pound [227 g] ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • Brown ground beef and onion.
  • Add tomatoes and enough liquid to saturate the mixture.
  • Add seasonings.
  • In an oven-safe dish, mix together cooked macaroni and beef/tomato mixture.
  • Sprinkle with cheese or bread crumbs.
  • Bake at 350°F [180°C] about 1 hour.
