- 4 cups [1 L] cooked macaroni elbows
- 28 ounces [796 mL] canned tomatoes
- Salt, pepper and thyme, to taste
- 1/2 cup [115 g] finely grated cheese or 1/2 cup [125 mL] fine bread crumbs [mixed with a little butter]
- 1/2 pound [227 g] ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped

- Brown ground beef and onion.
- Add tomatoes and enough liquid to saturate the mixture.
- Add seasonings.
- In an oven-safe dish, mix together cooked macaroni and beef/tomato mixture.
- Sprinkle with cheese or bread crumbs.
- Bake at 350°F [180°C] about 1 hour.
