- 1/2 cup [125 mL] onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] celery, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] carrots, finely chopped
- 4 tablespoons [60 mL] vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 pounds [680 g] ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] pepper
- 14 ounces [398 mL] tomato spaghetti sauce
- 16 ounces [454 g] rotini
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] Parmesan or Mozzarella cheese, shredded

- In a large frying pan, sauter onions, celery and carrot in vegetable oil.
- Add ground beef, salt and pepper.
- Cook, stirring often, until meat is golden.
- Add spaghetti sauce, cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Cook rotini according to package instructions.
- Drain.
- Mix together rotini and meat sauce, and place in a large serving dish.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
