Pizza Crust

Comments: As my husband finds this dough is too sweet, I sometimes only add 1 1/2 teaspoons [7.5 mL] sugar.
IngredientsPreparation
  • 2 teaspoons [10 g] sugar
  • 1 [1/4-ounce / 7-g] package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup [250 mL] lukewarm water
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
  • 2 1/2 cups [350 g] all-purpose flour
  • Mix together sugar, yeast and lukewarm water into a mixing bowl; let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Then mix in vegetable oil, egg, salt and 1 1/2 cups [210 g] flour.
  • Add remaining flour; thoroughly mix.
  • Transfer into a greased bowl.
  • Cover and let stand for about 45 minutes, into a warm environment [I usually turn my oven on to 175°F [80°C] and sit the bowl besides a top burner to let the heat through].
  • Roll-out dough onto a pizza pan or a cookie sheet.
  • Bake pizza crust for 10 minutes, into a preheated 400°F [200°C] oven.
