Refried Beans Mexican-Style Pizza

  • 1 pound [454 g] lean ground beef
  • 1 [1 1/4-ounce / 35-g] pack taco seasoning mix
  • 1 [12-inch / 30-cm] pizza pastry shell
  • 1 [14-ounce / 398-mL] can Mexican refried beans
  • 1 cup [225 g] grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup [250 mL] shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 to 1 cup [125 to 250 mL] pickled Jalapeno pepper slices, drained
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] thick'n chunky salsa
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] chopped tomato
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] chopped onion
  • Preheat oven to 425°F [220°C].
  • Into a large skillet, cook ground beef sprinkled with taco seasoning mix, following mix packaging instructions; crumble and reserve.
  • Arrange pizza pastry shell onto a baking sheet.
  • Evenly top with refried beans, then with cooked seasoned ground beef crumbs.
  • Bake into preheated oven for 10 minutes, until crust is lightly browned.
  • Sprinkle all over with grated Cheddar cheese.
  • Bake for 2 minutes more, until cheese melts.
  • Remove from oven.
  • Top with shredded lettuce, pickled Jalapeno pepper slices, thick'n chunky salsa, chopped tomato and chopped onion.
  • Serve immediately.
