Mexican-Style Pizza

Comments: If desired, use paper thin smoked ham instead of pepperoni and salami. It is also possible to replace the hot and spicy seasoning with taco seasoning.

  • 2 pounds [1 kg] lean ground beef
  • 1 pack hot and spicy seasoning
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] water
  • Taco sauce [medium or hot]
  • Pepperoni slices, to taste
  • Salami slices, to taste
  • 1 sweet green pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, into rings
  • Canned sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 14 ounces [400 g] grated cheese [18% m.s.g.]
  • 5 pita breads
  • Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
  • Brown ground beef into a frypan.
  • Meanwhile, mix together seasoning and water; pour over browned ground beef.
  • Spread pita breads with taco sauce.
  • Garnish each pita bread with ground beef mixture, pepperoni slices, green pepper slices, onion rings and mushroom slices.
  • Sprinkle all over with grated cheese.
  • Bake into preheated oven, for approximately 20 minutes.
