- 1 whole chicken, cut into 8 parts
- 1 lemon, cut into 4 wedges
- Salt
- Olive, vegetable or corn oil
- 1 whole garlic, chopped
- 1 teaspon [5 mL] ground black pepper
- 4 whole black peppercorns
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 cup [250 mL] soy sauce, more if needed
- 1 cup [250 mL] vinegar, more if needed
- 7-up or Sprite [optional]

- Really well rinse chicken pieces.
- It is recommend to scrub chicken pieces all over with lemon wedges and rub chicken pieces with some salt as well.
- Heat some olive, vegetable or corn oil into a large enough frypan.
- Lightly brown chopped garlic.
- Add and saute chicken pieces until they beginning to tenderize.
- Add ground black pepper, whole black peppercorns, soy sauce and vinegar.
- Leave to simmer for approximately 25 to 35 minutes, until chicken is done, making sure to add more vinegar or soy sauce until it suits your taste [should be a bit tangy].
- When chicken is tender, for a sweeter taste, add some 7-up or Sprite.
- Leave to simmer for 5 more minutes before serving.
