Basic Boiled Rice

  • 1 cup [250 mL] long grain white rice
  • 1 3/4 cups [440 mL] cold water
  • A little salt
  • Pour rice into a bowl; stir and rinse several times.
  • Drain rice.
  • Into saucepan, mix together rice and salted cold water.
  • Bring to a boil over high heat; boil until steam vents shape onto the surface, for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Cover tightly; simmer over really low heat, for 15 minutes.
  • Fluff rice with a fork and serve.
