- 4 slices brown or white bread
- 4 slices Gruyere cheese
- 2 slices cooked ham
- Light mayonnaise
or
Dijon mustard
- Olive halves, to decorate
- Roasted red pimiento strips, to decorate

- Using a cookie cutter, cut 'faces' into bread, cheese and ham slices; set aside.
- Shape into sandwiches:
- Spread half of slices of bread, on one side, with mayonnaise or Dijon mustard.
- Cover with a slice of ham and then with a slice of cheese.
- Top with remaining slices of bread.
- Decorate each sandwich with: 2 olive halves [eyes] and 1 roasted pimiento strip [mouth].
