- 6 slices Italian bread [1/3-inch / 8-mm thick]
- 1 1/2 cups [375 mL] milk
- 1 1/2 cups [375 mL] grated Mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 3 tablespoons [45 mL] oil
- 3 tablespoons [45 mL] butter
- Salt and pepper

- Remove crusts from bread slices.
- Soak bread slices into milk.
- Evenly sprinkle bread slices with grated Mozzarella cheese.
- Well season with salt and pepper.
- Cover with remaining bread slices.
- Half sandwiches.
- Sprinkle sandwiches with flour; dip each sandwich in beaten eggs.
- Over medium heat, into a large frypan, heat together oil and butter.
- Brown sandwiches for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, until cheese melts and bread slices are golden brown.
- Drain sandwiches onto paper toweling.
- Cut sandwiches into small squares and serve, hot.
