Tamale Sandwiches

  • 3 long buns
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] chopped green pepper
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] dried minced onion
  • 1 [15-ounce / 426-mL] can chili with beans
  • 1 [15-ounce / 426-mL] can tamales
  • 3 ounces [85 g] sharp Cheddar cheese [3/4 cup / 190 mL], shredded
  • Half buns lengthwise; toast.
  • Add chopped green pepper and minced onion to chili with beans.
  • Spread chili mixture over buns.
  • Half drained tamales; arrange on top of chili mixture.
  • Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  • Broil until cheese melts and sandwiches are heated through, for about 10 minutes.
