Ground Beef Stuffed French Bread Stick

  • 1 [12-inch / 30-cm] long French bread stick
  • 1 cup [250 mL] breadcrumbs [from French bread stick]
  • 1 pound [454 g] lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup [115 g] grated Cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] mixed spices
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] well-drained cooled boiled rice
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] really finely chopped onion
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] chili sauce
  • Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
  • Half bread lengthwise being careful not to cut through the other side.
  • Delicately remove enough of the white part to get 1 cup [250 mL] breadcrumbs.
  • Into a bowl, mix together ground beef, grated Cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, mixed spices, cooled rice, chopped onion, egg and chili sauce.
  • Stuff bread with mixture.
  • Tightly wrap stuffed bread into 2 sheets of al foil.
  • Bake bread into preheated oven, for approximately 2 hours.
  • Slice, and serve.
