Beef Fajitas

IngredientsPreparation
  • 3/4 pound [340 g] slice round tip or sirloin tip beef, 1/2 to 3/4-inch [1.3 to 2-cm] thick
  • 1 tablespoon [15 mL] lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] caraway
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] garlic powder
  • 1 sweet red or green pepper, into strips
  • 1 tomato, cut into 8 wedges
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] shredded lettuce
  • Taco sauce or salsa [mild, medium or hot, to taste]
  • 4 large [approximately 10-inch / 25-cm] flour tortillas
  • Into a bowl, mix together lime juice, vegetable oil, caraway and garlic powder.
  • Add slice of beef, coating beef with mixture.
  • Leave beef to marinate while cutting vegetables and heating taco sauce or salsa.
  • Brown slice of beef for 3 to 5 minutes on each side over high heat, together with pepper strips.
  • Reheat tortillas.
  • Cut beef into fine stips.
  • Evenly fill tortillas with beef strips, pepper strips, tomato wedges and shredded lettuce.
  • Spoon some sauce over mixture.
  • Fold one end and one side of each tortilla towards center; roll, leaving other end opened.
